The Give and Take Tree
I always thought the tree in Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree got a bum deal. Did that little kid ever even say "thank you"? Then again, at least he asked.
The Giving Tree was the most depressing story of my youth. Or of ever. Your comic captures it well, though I would have appreciated the tree sending fire ants to slowly consume that selfish bastard kid instead.
What Jade said. I didn't discover The Giving Tree until I was a teenager, but I was rather glad I hadn't read it as a kid considering what an ungrateful little sh*t the kid in the story was.
I wish I could "like" this, Facebook style!
